Always Looking at the Possibilities

~Shared by Barb Johnson~

I met Chip when he came to work at Good Music Agency in Minneapolis.  You could always tell when Chip was in the room, not only because of that booming voice, but because his energy filled the room.  He was as generous as he was kind.  I knew back then that he was destined for bigger and better things….and look what he accomplished.  Not only in his professional life, but in his personal life.  What I remember the most is that he was always about what if and not why not.  Always looking at the possibilities.

Be at peace my friend, you will be missed.

A Life Well Lived

~Shared by Jeff Trisler~

In the business of live music that we shared for nearly 30 years, we enjoyed many great successes together. But, as many times as we spoke, much more time was spent discussing our parallel experiences in life; our children, relationships, family, friends….the real things that make up the fabric of our lives. Your humility was remarkable, especially considering all you achieved in your life. Your generosity of spirit is a model for all to follow. My own life it markedly richer for having had you in it. Maybe corny, but I’ve been thinking of this line often since news of your passing, so will post it here: “A heart is not judged by how much you love; but by how much you are loved by others.” -Wizard Of Oz. Thank you for being a part of my life and for all you meant to so many.

Chip and I worked together…

~Shared by Tom Hennick~

Chip & I worked together as booking agents at the Good Music Agency in Minneapolis in the mid to late 1980’s, trying to make it a national contender.  When he moved on to bigger and better things with Fred Bohlander and Dan Weiner at Monterrey Peninsula Artists, he accelerated a change in the live music agency world  that was so much for the better.  The artists he represented know what it means to have a trusted and passionate partner in their ranks.  And outside of work, you couldn’t find a better example of what a true friend is and what a true friend does.  One of his greatest qualities…that of intense devotion, came to fruition in his photography and most importantly, his fatherhood. Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him.

…Wonderful, Gracious Guy…

~Shared by Patrick Hagin~

I first met Chip in the mid-1980s when I was booking Mississippi Nights.  If memory serves, he was the agent for Steve, Bob & Rich and made a trip to St. Louis just to say hi.  And even though he quickly rose way beyond the club level – Chip was always the same wonderful, gracious guy should I ever call his office or happen to run into him at an industry event.   Proud to have known him & this world is a much better place due to his presence!

A Serious Photographer

~Shared by Richard and Myriam Misrach~

Chip was so full of life, energy and fun it’s impossible to believe he’s not going to be around for the duration. We didn’t know the show biz side, we knew him as a serious photographer whose passion felt essential and life-giving. He was fully engaged and that love for the medium  kept him going through his many bouts with illness. If he could photograph he was ok. He was a great force in life and we will miss him terribly.

My Love…

~Shared by Tamara Mims~

Chip,

You will forever be within me and I with you. The incredible and magical connection, the fierce and powerful love and the soulful and spiritual bond we share with each other will cross dimensions and outlive us both.

You may have been the first to leave this world but I will go to the ends of the earth to honor you in my lifetime. My heart is hurting yet there is comfort in knowing we will meet and intertwine fully again. You are my everything.

I love you. Endlessly.

Always yours,

Tamara

Dad,

This is our most recent photographing day together. Allowing me to assist you in creating your art was the most special gift you could have ever given me. I love you and miss you more than words can explain.

An Honor To Be Your Son…

~Shared by Max Hooper~

Even given your ability to talk you wouldn’t have enough words to describe how much of an honor it is to be your son.

I know you are with me and Val every step of the way. Your impact on me is forever ingrained and lives on in me in everything I do, all of the friendships I have, and in the pursuit of my dreams. You gave me the ability to believe in myself and as long as I have that, what more could I ever need? I love you, dad.

Truly One In a Million…

~Shared by Benjamin Shprits~

Very sad to be mourning the loss of Chip Hooper…..truly one in a million. Lefsetz may have said it best: “if you want to honor his memory you’ll pursue the target, despite the competition, you’ll do good for others, and you’ll know that life can be snatched from this earth at any time, and possessions are not people, and achievements are not experiences, and life is about the living.” Rest in peace Chip, you will be sorely missed by so many but your legacy will live on for generations to come.

Chip Gave Me So Much…

~Shared by Joe Atamian~

Chip Hooper gave me so much as a friend and mentor. To list it all on here would probably break the Internet.

So of course, the most prized possession in my office was a gift from Chip and sits next to me daily. It will always be a reminder of such a great man.

When I first became an agent we were in the middle of moving offices, and Chip wanted to get rid of his worn out map that he had used for 20+ years. When he offered it to me, it felt like King Arthur offering me Excalibur.

It was such a small thing, but it meant the world to me. And sitting here looking at it makes me feel like I will always have a little piece of my friend with me.

Thank you for everything Chip. I’ll miss you brother. If I’m 1/10th the human being you were I’ll be doing just fine for myself.
